Due to our unique syllabus and the structure of our courses, all of our training is designed for full-time students, we don’t have any part-time study available.
Many pilots wear glasses or contacts and fly for the airlines. You would need to carry a spare set when you fly and pass the eye test with a Designated Aviation Ophthalmologist which is part of a Class 1 Medical.
You need to be 17 years old to obtain your Private Pilot Licence and 18 to obtain a Commercial Pilot Licence.
All students are required to complete the Symbiotics ADAPT Aptitude Assessment prior to enrolment. This tool is used to identify strengths and weaknesses plus it assesses your natural skills and abilities that are required to become a pilot. The test is at a cost to you of $220.
We have new intakes commencing every 6 – 8 weeks throughout the year with an average size of 6 students.
You require a CASA Class 1 Medical to hold a Commercial Pilot Licence. This can be obtained by arranging a medical examination with a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner or DAME. You will also have to undergo an eye test with a Designated Aviation Ophthalmologist or DAO.
We recommend that you study at least Maths A or B plus Physics. These are not mandatory but advantageous. You should also make sure you have good mental maths.
Yes, we rent fully furnished accommodation close to the academy, electricity and wireless internet are included in the rent – budget $210-$220 per week. flatmates.com.au is a popular site where you could search for your own accommodation. Bilinga, Tugun and Kirra are suburbs that are close to the academy. We are here to help our interstate students with finding accommodation.
